Year 7 Oracy Workshops
This July, year 7 students had the opportunity to participate in an exciting two-hour oracy workshop where they learnt about what oracy means and the strategies and techniques to help them to build their confidence and to be able to articulate themselves clearly in different settings.
Students then presented their concept and model as a group to the full group, answered questions and were provided with feedback from the Yr10 students before the winning design was selected.
Ms Moysi, head of the Teaching & Learning task group said,
“We were blown away by the creativity and originality of the student’s designs and the quality of their presentations and they will have undoubtedly grown in confidence and we hope this will support them with their transition into Yr8 in September.”
Well done Yr7!
Focus on Oracy
As a school, improving our student’s oracy will be a key priority next year and our vision is to make useful, relevant and purposeful talk happen in every lesson. We also want to give students a voice and help them to express themselves clearly and professionally in lessons and in the future in college interviews and with employers.
