Careers Events
Throughout the year, we welcome a range of guest speakers from a variety of professional sectors to meet with small groups of students. Each session focuses on a different industry, giving students valuable insights into a wide range of career opportunities.
Drawing on their own experiences and expertise, our speakers share what it's like to work in their field, discuss different career pathways, and answer students' questions about their industry and profession.
Spotlight Talk: Working in Insurance and Finance
July 2026
On Friday 3rd July, we welcomed Ahmed Farooq from the Howden Group, one of the largest insurance companies in the UK with offices about the globe. He delivered an inspiring presentation to our Year 10 Business students which covered lots of relevant GCSE content (including organisational structures and job roles, business growth and stock market floatation, financial management and forecasting and salary/benefits packages). He gave lots of great advice about skills and character building to support career development which really engaged our students and got them thinking about their future options. Students conducted themselves as a fantastic audience of young professionals and asked many curious and relevant questions to learn more about his journey.

Spotlight talk: Football and Sports coaching
July 2026
A number of our students attended a brilliant opt in careers talk with local, ex-professional (B'ham City FC) footballer Dele Adebola and his coach colleague Jack from 'Strike 9'. Dele talked about his career journey and what the organisation offers young people who want to play sport. This was followed by some mini football games, coached by some of year 10 students.
